Yes, I am writing from Hungary. After the state-subsidized free Linux server distros for schools were discontinued here, I found Linuxmuster to be the best freely available alternative (Sambaedu and LinuxSchools were also in the running).
To answer your question, we don’t use any extra features (NextCloud or Edulution), CPU usage is fairly moderate, I’ve never seen it above 25%, but memory consumption is getting worse with each new version of Samba. We’re now at the point where it eats up all the memory in two days, so I put it in crond to restart samba-ac-dc at the end of each day. I wouldn’t consider the hardware to be very old either, a Ryzen 7 5700G with 64GB DDR4 RAM, a B550 chipset motherboard with 2x512 NVMe SSDs and 2x3TB SATA HDDs running Proxmox and the servers.
