Linux (Mint) Client startet offline nicht: "No root device specified. Boot arguments must include a root= parameter."

Hallo zusammen!

Ich bin gerade dabei, unsere Laptops auf ein neues Image, das ich auch für unsere neuen Desktop-Clients verwende, umzustellen.
Online mit LAN-Kabel funktioniert alles bestens. LINBO bootet, ich kann synchronisieren und nach dem Neustart aus LINBO bootet LinuxMint wie es soll. Ich nutze UEFI.
Bei den Laptops tauchte nun aber das Problem auf, dass sie offline zwar noch in LINBO booten, aber dann nicht mehr ins Betriebssystem. Der Bootvorgang stoppt mit folgender Meldung:

No root device specified. Boot arguments must include a root= parameter.

Um zu testen, ob das nur die Laptops betrifft, habe ich auch versucht einen des Desktop-Clients ohne LAN zu starten - auch dies endet mit dem selben Fehler.

Hab die Lösung selbst gefunden, indem ich mir die Templates für Ubuntu UEFI angeschaut habe. Es fehlte ein „boot/“…

Kernel = boot/vmlinuz
Initrd = boot/initrd.img

Warum es online aber trotzdem geklappt hat und das Problem nur offline auftauchte, ist mir nicht klar?
